Bicycle Soccer

Helmet cam footage is almost ready. I just need to find the perfect jam for it and then it's done. In the mean time, you can respond to theprofessor's question and/or watch some bicycle soccer.

Why?

Since I don't have some epic ride to post about I thought of a question that would provide some interesting feedback. Why did you pick up mountain biking? There are a lot of sports/hobbies to choose from, why did you pick up mountain biking? Here is my story. I used to ride road bikes in high school. After my freshmen year of college I was in a unfortunate bike accident that made me want to avoid bikes for about 10 years. One weekend I was on a camp out with my Sunday school class and Lumpy was going for a ride with J.A. I borrowed a friend's bike and joined them on a ride that was less than a mile. I got back to the camp site and announced to my wife I needed to buy a mountain bike. She said great and three days later I purchased a Raleigh. So . . . why do you love the dirt?

The Pictures Don't Lie

Here's a few pictures from a good weekend of biking in Colorado:

This is definitely not a staged photo:

Neither is this:

Or this:

I also have some helmet cam footage that I'll post as soon as I get it edited. Stay tuned.

Tip: Don't ride Manawa

Between the water damage and the ultra-spawnage of mosquitoes, Manawa is teh nasty.

New Specialized Rockhopper 29er

Image borrowed from here.
I think this bike is going to be popular. $700 for a geared hardtail 29er. Curved seattube for shorter chainstays and front derailleur/tire clearance. Can easily be converted to singlespeed using the sliding dropouts. If I was shopping for a new bike right now, this thing would have just shot up to the top of my list.

Helmet = Good idea

Ryan Lipscomb will have many more good ideas because he wore his helmet.

Lipscomb walked away with only a concussion after a truck ran over his head. Read all about it here.

At least a skunk didn't spray me

Lumpy's dismount helped avoid a bad encounter with a skunk. However, I seemed to have trouble staying on my bike. The first crash left its mark.

Night Ride at Tranquility

Went to Tranquility last night with J.A. and the Professor. Good times....I would like to publicly thank the little skunk that was nearly under my tire last night, for not spraying. When I see you on the rode, I promise to swerve.

A Short Ride at Manawa

It was a little rough at Manawa on Sat. The trails were under water and we were a little rusty on the logs.

All went well on the Goatheads Tour De NoDo. Highlights included, a surprise appearance by Dr. Babymaker, A near beatdown by some guy that looked like Robbie, (Robbie, you need to keep better tabs on your girlfriend)and beautiful views of the sun setting on the muddy banks of the swollen Missouri River.

Multi-talented Goathead

A lot of you know that J.A. (aka Proletariat) ran the Lincoln Marathon last Sunday. What you may not know is that he set his P.R. by 11 minutes!!!!! Maybe you forgot, but last weekend did not provide ideal running conditions. So we all know how much attention Proletariat likes to get, when you see him give him a big "congratulations".

Let's hit the streets

Urban ride tonight

Too bad we're not the SnakeHeads

My 3-year-old daughter and I found bunch of snakes all together after the rain this morning in our backyard. They found my shovel.

Glamour shot:

Before somebody posts a lecture about how good garter snakes are for your yard, I already know. So is fertilizer.
